According to Dr. Aaron M. Flickstein deep penetration achieved by infrared rays (over half an inch into the body tissue) provide a heating effect in the muscle tissue and internal organs. The body responds to this heat with a hypothalamic prompted by an increase in both volume and heart rate. The mild stress is beneficial due to the stimulation caused kardiaangeiakis.

As confirmation of the validity of this form of cardiovascular status, extensive research in the early 1980's by NASA concluded that infrared stimulation of cardiac function would be the ideal way to maintain cardiovascular fitness of American astronauts during long space flights.

Effects of infrared heating in rheumatoid arthritis

The study reported a case in Sweden had to do with a man 70 years old suffering from rheumatoid arthritis followed from acute rheumatic fever. He had reached the limits of toxic injections of gold and the velocity of erythrocyte sedimentation (ESR) was still at 125. After using an infrared heating system for less than five months, his ESR fell to 11.

The rheumatologist worked with a 14 year old girl from Sweden who had difficulty descending stairs because of knee pain that had since the age of eight. This therapist told her mother that the girl would be in a wheelchair within two years if they do not begin gold corticosteroid therapy. After three treatments with infrared, became more flexible and then started dancing lessons without using conventional approaches to restore.

A clinical study in Japan reported a successful solution seven of the seven cases of rheumatoid arthritis treated infrared therapy to the entire body. These cases and the clinical trials indicate that further study is warranted for the use of the infrared treatment of the entire body in the care of patients with rheumatoid arthritis.

Other therapeutic properties of infrared heating

1. The infrared heating increases the elongation of tissue collagen.

2. The infrared heating reduces the stiffness.

3. Infrared heat relieves muscle spasms.

4. The infrared thermal treatment leads to pain relief.

5. The infrared heating increases the blood circulation.

6. The infrared heat helps resolve inflammatory infiltrates, edema and exudates.

7. The infrared heating introduced in cancer therapy.

8. The infrared heating affects soft tissue injuries.
